Clay Works: Making Spaces

Making Spaces was a twelve-week project that took place from September to December 2020 as part of the British Ceramics Biennial’s Health programme Clay Works.

The project involved exploring ideas about place and space through a series of online workshops. Initially planned to take place in person in the BCB Studio on the historic Spode works site, the sessions were moved completely online due to the COVID pandemic.

It was all about coming together, making plates, drawing and exploring hand-building techniques.

By the end of the project, participants had made new friends, shared skills and connected with each other and clay.

With support from ABLE, Connecting Choices and Early Intervention Team and funded by Garfield Weston and Arts Council England.
